My Chairs are my oldest series of works, begun in 1992. It all started with one particular chair which I took from my parent’s house when I moved out. It’s neither handsome nor particularly comfortable but as I painted more and more portraits of it, I appreciated the chair as a unbreakable link between myself and my parents, Ann & Bill.
