BarbieS

My ongoing and very popular Barbie portrait photography series came about kinda by accident. I love pop culture, having grown up with 70’s Saturday Morning cartoons, sugar cereals & Star Wars. I never really played with or kept toys much when as I was kid. But as I got older, I started to appreciate - of all things - Barbie dolls as an iconic figure and representation of those strong female figures who played strong roles from my childhood including my mom (Ann) and my grandmother (Lily) (who was also an artist). The dolls are purely seen from a place of nostalgia and memory.

That said, I’ve included some photos from exhibitions and from people’s private collections. I’ve also developed a series of more erotic scenes for those of you who’re a tad more daring with your decor choices. There are a lot more portrait-photographs in my library - please ask if you’re looking for something more specific.

My Barbie images are usually offered as acrylic face-mounted presentations but can be custom ordered as ink-jet prints on archival paper to be custom framed.

Swing Time

Seriously, what can illicit more fond childhood memories than our visits to amusement parks like the Toronto CNE or your favourite local county fair? Between the shrill thrills of going on our favourite rides, gorging on cotton candy & waffle fries and playing bottle ring-toss. Come on, seriously?!

DISTORTION

This 2021 series of golden-age Hollywood photography came about one Saturday morning when my cable went all kaakaa-poopoo. I swooned over the super-saturated, completely randomized graphic overlays distorting the moving images on my TV. I have hundreds of photos to choose from, from movies including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (featuring Marilyn Monroe), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (featuring Elizabeth Taylor & Paul Newman), Summerstock (featuring Judy Garland), My Fair Lady (featuring Audrey Hepburn) and A Streetcar Named Desire (featuring Marlon Brando). JUST ask what else I got!

These are available as custom-sized and limited edition, acrylic face-mounted photographs or as one-of-a-kind works with various kinds of painted and detailed overlays. Custom commissions warmly welcomed & encouraged!

You’ll also find some other works which I feel also fit the theme.

Architecture & Fashion

If I wasn’t a visual artist, I’d’ve been an architect or clothing designer! These photos were taken in Toronto, Montreal, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. Colour variations available.

Acrylic-enhanced photographs

This section features mixed-media works which incorporate hand-embellished or hand-distressed photographs. With either an epoxy resin overlay or varnish finish. My fondness for nostalgia often includes my re-interpretation of family photos translated into a more contemporary language.
